Senator Colbeck is an aerospace engineer who has led the design of systems for the International Space Station and Department of Defense. He has also served as an instructor for Space Camp in Huntsville, AL. In his first run ever for public office in 2010, supported by his fellow members of a Tea Party and guided by his Christian faith, his grassroots campaign defeated four former state representatives to become the first person elected directly to the Michigan Senate in three decades.

Among his many accomplishments as a Republican Michigan State Senator are the following: leading the Senate effort to make Michigan the 24th Right to Work state in America, expanding school choice options, enactment of free market health care solutions, improving state-based veteran services from worst to one of the best in the nation, and enhancing the effectiveness and transparency of government operations.

Included in the book are process descriptions for “How to get elected”, “How the Senate Majority Leader and Speaker of the House are selected”, “How legislation is passed”, and “How budgets are passed” plus how each of these processes are intertwined with one another.
